What is this journal about?

I started my online journal about back in 2000 (in another incarnation) to chronicle the things that take place in my life. It’s mostly for my friends and family to find out what the latest is with me without really having to do too much. Daily activities are seemingly mundane when clumped into one telephone conversation. As it happens, it makes it more real and alive. Generally, I don’t post anything too personal, but just enough so that the point gets across. Obviously, some things are meant to be private. Nevertheless, you’ll find me writing my thoughts about the world, my life, people, my job… whatever comes to mind and seems appropriate. I try not to mince words.

Who is Mika Matsumoto?

While my birth name is not Mika Matsumoto, it is the persona I have embodied for many many years now. In fact, if you were to Google my real name, there isn’t a single thing on me personally. Google “Mika Matsumoto” and you get quite a few hits. The name is relatively generic in Japan, but it originates from a mini-variety show series I wrote about Japanese pop music. Cute series, but it didn’t work out. I kept the name and ever since, I have lived life online as Mika.
